Tree For Me - workshop host, vol., Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation, Toronto, Ontario
Date posted to RCEN & PlanetVolunteer:
Apr 13 2017
Position: Tree For Me - workshop host
Organization: Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation
Location: Toronto, Ontario
About the role:
Tree For Me offers residents of Toronto a free native tree to plant on private property in support of growing and caring for our urban forest. Ensuring trees are properly planted and cared for is a vital component of successfully growing our tree canopy, that’s why Tree For Me participants are required to take part in a short tree stewardship workshop prior to receiving their tree. Tree For Me events take place in Toronto communities each spring and fall. Participants are asked to visit treeforme.ca to match themselves with the right tree and register for a community event near them. Events are generally 2-4 hours long and run in partnership with a community organization.
The Workshop Host is responsible for leading Tree For Me participants through the Tree Planting and Care workshop at community events throughout Toronto. Hosts will walk guests through the proper techniques for site preparation, tree planting, mulching and watering to help them succeed with their new tree. Training for this role is provided; anyone interested in learning to teach others proper planting techniques should apply.
