About The Sacred Gardener

The Sacred Gardener was chosen for our farm/school's name because it conveys something that we feel is unique in our approach to both growing and teaching here on the farm. While there are many places, books and ways to learn about gardening or working with the Earth, there are very few that put the needs of the Earth first. This means not just thinking about production and convenience for ourselves but making the effort to step forward gently with real ecological/spiritual integrity. more...

Apprentice/Intern Positions

We’re looking for interns this coming season from May 1 - Oct 1.

(1) We are looking for a helper whose focus will be on the green building projects, with some building experience. Using cob and local timber we are going to convert a 140 year old log barn into the new teaching lodge, kitchen and rooms. We are also going to finish the Cob-Stackwall-Earthship “The Roundhouse”.

(2) We are also looking for a helper for the herb and garden work. Starting with seeds, transplanting seedlings, garden prep, spring root harvest and processing, spring flower harvest, early greens, and more weeding, harvesting and processing through to the first frosts.

The interns will likely both work together much of the time but we are looking for interns we specific experience and interest in the above projects. This will be a life-changing experience. You get a place to stay “money-free” for 5 months, and will leave steeped in traditional homesteading skills. Interns will also have access to the Sacred Gardener workshops and School.

We are looking for solid people who can work 6 days a week (one day off), who are positive and fully committed.
