Position: Content Management and Internal Communications Leader
Organization: Ottawa Biosphere Eco-City Initiative (OBEC)
Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Current Need:

The Ottawa Biosphere Eco-City Initiative (OBEC) is looking for a volunteer to develop a system to handle internal information The candidate would be responsible for:

  • a) developing a simple system for accessible storage of records, such as minutes and presentations and content management; and
  • b) facilitating internal communication of information, (e.g. notices of meetings, ideas to share or questions).

The Ottawa Biosphere Eco-City Initiative (OBEC) is a federally registered charitable organization, working to engage residents of Ottawa in sustainability. It uses ten Themes and simple Tools to promote understanding, involvement, initiative and sharing. OBEC currently has about 20 members who meet monthly in an open forum called the OBEC Council to discuss issues and develop activities. An elected Board of six (6) members also meets monthly to provide strategic direction, including project approval and funding.

Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Knowledge of various filing methods and record keeping
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team

Asset Qualification (desired but not required)

  • Able to manage a team

Commitment: 1 to 3 hours per week for upto a year (or more).
