The Ottawa Biosphere Eco-City Initiative (OBEC) is a federally registered charitable organization, working to engage residents of Ottawa in sustainability. It uses ten Themes and simple Tools to promote understanding, involvement, initiative and sharing. OBEC currently has about 20 members who meet monthly in an open forum called the OBEC Council to discuss issues and develop activities. An elected Board of six (6) members also meets monthly to provide strategic direction, including project approval and funding.
It is proposed that the first several suitable candidates meet initially to select their team leader from among themselves. It is suggested, also, that candidates attend the OBEC Council meeting on Monday 22 February at the Hintonburg Community Centre at 6:00 PM to meet members of the organization.
The candidates for this project should have:
Understanding of how to develop a fundraising strategy
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work in a team
Ability to organize and coordinate tasks
Ability to record and report information.
Asset qualifications (desirable but not required)
Commitment: Candidates are expected to commit two to three (2-3) hours per week for up to a year.
